Owns and operates around 170,000 communications
towers in the U.S. and 16 other countries. Converted from
a corporation to REIT on January 1, 2012.
CoreSite Realty (COR)
Operates 21 cloud data centers in the U.S. totaling 4.1+
million square feet and serving more than 1,350
customers.
Crown Castle International (CCI)
A January 2014 conversion to REIT, Crown Castle owns,
operates and leases more than 40,000 cell towers and
approximately 65,000 route miles of fiber supporting small
cells and fiber solutions across every major US market.
CyrusOne (CONE)
A January 2013 spin-off from Cincinnati Bell, CONE owns
and operates 45+ data centers in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
Digital Realty Trust (DLR)
Spun off from a private equity firm in 2004, Digital Realty
owns more than 200 facilities located throughout the U.S.
and 12 other countries that it leases to technology and
financial firms for use as secure data centers. Acquired
Dupont Fabros Technologies in September 2017.
Equinix (EQIX)
Founded in 1998, Equinix, which operates more than
200 data centers globally, converted to a REIT in 2015.
QTS Realty Trust (QTS)
An October 2013 IPO, QTS operates 25 data centers
comprising 2.7 million sq. ft.. QTS differentiates itself by
offering technical support services to its tenants rather
than simply leasing space.
Uniti Group (UNIT)
A May 2015 spin-off from Windstream Holdings (WIN),
Uniti owns 5.5+ million fiber strand miles, 500 wireless
towers and other communications real estate
throughout the U.S. Its biggest customer,Windstream,
filed for bankruptcy in February 2019. Changed name
from Communications Sales & Leasing (CSAL) in
February 2017.
