Apple Hospitality (APLE)
A collection of formerly non-traded REITs (Apple REIT 8,
Apple REIT 9, etc.), shares began publicly trading after a 1-
for-2 reverse split on 5/18/15. Previously had been subject
of SEC investigation alleging information disclosures to
shareholders. Owns more than 230 upscale hotel
properties in 34 states. Pays monthly dividends.
Ashford Hospitality (AHT)
Owns 110+ mid- to upper scale full-service hotels operated
under brands such as Courtyard, Embassy Suites, Marriott
and Hilton. Externally advised.
Braemar Hotels & Resorts (BHR)
Changed name to Braemar from Ashford Hospitality Prime
in April 2018. Owns luxury hotels and resorts. Externally
advised by Ashford (AINC).
Chatham Lodging (CLDT)
Owns or has interest in 135+ upscale, extended-stay hotels
and premium-branded, select-service hotels. Internally
advised.
Chesapeake Lodging (CHSP)
A January 2010 IPO, Chesapeake owns more than 20 mostly
upper-upscale and extended-stay hotels in eight states. In
May 2019, agreed to be acquired by Park Hotels (PK).
Condor Hospitality (CDOR)
Formerly Supertel Hospitality, Condor owns 16 upscale,
limited-service hotels in 8 states. Completed a 1 for 8 stock
split in August 2013. Suspended common stock dividend
payouts in March 2009 and preferred payouts in December
2013. Changed name to Condor in July 2015. Redeemed all
preferreds, including unpaid dividends, in April 2016 and
reinstated common dividend in July 2016.
CorePoint Lodging (CPLG)
Onws 310+ midscale and upper-midscale select-service
hotels operating primarily under the La Quinta brand in 41
states.
DiamondRock Hospitality (DRH)
Owns 30+ premium hotels in New York City, Los Angeles,
Chicago, Boston, and Atlanta. Suspended dividend in
December 2009, but resumed payouts in March 2011. Self-
advised.
Hersha Hospitality (HT)
Owns more than 40+ upscale luxury hotels primarily
mostly along the Northeast Corridor from Boston to
Washington DC.
Hospitality Properties Trust (HPT)
Owns more than 250 mid-scale mostly suite hotels located
in 45 states in the United States, and in Puerto Rico; and
Canada. Suspended dividends in 2009, but resumed
payouts in 2010.
Host Hotels & Resorts (HST)
Host owns more 90+ upscale and luxury full-service
hotel properties in downtown and resort locations. Cut
quarterly dividend to $0.01 in 2010, but resumed paying
meaningful dividends in 2011.
MGM Growth Properties (MGP)
Owns 11 large-scale destination entertainment,
gambling and leisure resorts in Las Vegas and other U.S.
locations.
Park Hotels & Resorts (PK)
Onws 50+ premium-branded hotels and resorts with
over 30,000 rooms, mostly located in prime U.S.
markets. Agreed to acquire Chesapeake Lodging in May
2019.
Pebblebrook Hotel Trust (PEB)
A December 2009 IPO, Pebblebrook fully owns more 60+
upper upscale, full service hotels in major gateway
cities in 10 states and DC. Acquired LaSalle Hotel
Properties in November 2018.
RLJ Lodging Trust (RLJ)
A May 2011 IPO, RLJ owns 150+ premium-branded,
high-margin, focused-service and compact full-service
hotels in 25 states and DC. Acquired FelCor Lodging in
August 2017.
Ryman Hospitality Properties (RHP)
Owns four upscale meetings focused resorts operated
by Marriott under the Gaylord Hotels brand. Also owns
the Grand Ole Opry and other entertainment assets.
Southerly Hotels (SOHO)
Formerly MHI Hospitality (MDH), Southerly Owns 12
upscale and upper-upscale full service hotels in the
Southern U.S. Cut dividend to $0.01 in 2009, but
resumed paying significant dividends in 2012.
Summit Hotel Properties (INN)
A February 2011 IPO, Summit owns 69 upscale and
upper midscale hotels in 24 states.
Sunstone Hotel Investors (SHO)
Owns 20+ upscale hotels mostly on the East Coast and
in California. Suspended dividend payouts in December
2008, but resumed paying dividends in September 2013.
Xenia Hotels (XHR)
A February 2015 spinoff from Inland American Realty
Trust, Xenia owns 40+ premium full service, lifestyle and
urban upscale hotels in the top lodging markets and
key leisure destinations. Self-advised.
