CatchMark Timber Trust  (CTT)

Formerly non-listed Wells Timberland REIT, went public as CatchMark in December 2013. Internally managed CatchMark owns and manages timberland in Georgia, Alabama, and Texas.

CorEnergy  (CORR)

A December 2012 IPO, CorEnergy owns oil and natural gas pipelines, storage tanks, gathering systems, etc., that are long-term triple-net leased to energy companies. Externally managed by a unit of Tortoise Capital Advisors.

CubeSmart (CUBE)

Formerly, "U-Store-It," CUBE is the smallest of the four self-storage REITs. Also manages manages self-storage facilities for third parties. Internally managed.

Entertainment Properties (EPR)

Owns, but does not operate, megaplex movie theatres and entertainment retail centers, as well as other destination recreational and specialty investments.

Extra Space Storage  (EXR)

Owns self-storage properties in 34 states and Washington, D.C.

Farmland Partners  (FPI)

An April 2014 IPO, FPI owns row crop farmland properties in 10 U.S. states. Internally managed.

Gaming & Leisure Properties  (GLPI)

A November 2013 spinoff from Penn National Gaming, GLPI owns properties leased to gaming operators under triple-net contracts.

Getty Realty (GTY)

Owns and leases convenience store/gas station properties and petroleum distribution terminals throughout the U.S.

Gladstone Land (LAND)

A January 2013 IPO, Gladstone owns farmland in California, Florida, Oregon and Michigan that it leases to corporate and independent farmers. LAND is externally managed by Gladstone Management Corporation. Pays monthly dividends.


A January 2015 IPO, HIFR owns electric transmission and distribution assets in Texas that are leased back to its utility sponsor, Sharyland, L.P., which is owned by the Ray L. Hunt family. HIFR is externally managed by Hunt Utility Services.

Hannon Armstrong Sustainable (HASI)

An April 2013 IPO, HASI makes debt and equity investments in sustainable (green) infrastructure projects. In business more than 30 years, but converted to REIT structure with IPO. 

National Storage Affiliates (NSA)

An April 2015 IPO, NSA owns and operates more than 250 self-storage properties in 16 states.

Plum Creek Timber (PCL) 

Owns and manages lumber producing timberlands and associated facilities.

Potlatch (PCH) 

Owns timberland in Arkansas, Idaho, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Also operates a land sales and development business and manufactures wood products. 

Public Storage (PSA) 

Owns and operates storages properties located in 38 states and also owns a minority interest in a self-storage unit operating in seven European countries. Holds 41% of commercial property owner PS Business Parks (PSB).

Rayonier (RYN) 

Owns and manages lumber producing timberlands and associated facilities. Also manufactures specialty pulp and building products, and produces specialty cellulose fibers.  

Sovran Self Storage (SSS)

Owns and operates self-storage facilities under the "Uncle Bob's name in 25 states.

VICI Properties (VICI)

A 2017 spinoff from Caesars Entertainment and a February 2018 IPO, VICI owns gaming, hospitality, and entertainment destinations including four championship golf course, 14,500 hotel rooms and 150+ restaurants, bars and nightclubs.
